15" x 22"
Mixed Media on Watercolor Paper
Artist Statement:
This piece is an answer to boxed ideas and labels of women that people speak of --- watered down perspectives of femininity and beauty.
The artwork illustrates women --- opening up and clearing the hands, which symbolise the minds and talking heads that try to influence her to believe that she is supposed to be x and y, for her to be called a woman. The woman in the piece begs to differ and wants to be her own self with her own reality of what she is as a woman and human being.
